Great Missenden – Level Changes
Level changes presented the main challenge on this project designed by Maggie Hughes. The client was keen to develop two seating spaces and work with the ground to ensure the house sits within the landscaping. This was achieved with the use of both steps and slopes, with planting connecting the spaces.

It has been a busy week.
The first image is of a garden that we finished in the Spring. We popped back today to add some bulbs and we were pleased to see it thriving.
Then on to Tring as the trees arrived for this project (thank you @majestictrees1 ) in the grounds of a lovely Georgian home. A new garden room has recently been built and requires some screening and planting to soften.
Spin around and pop to Weston Turville to see progress at a lovely little new build property.

As it’s World Animal Day, we’d like to share some ideas for creating a hedgehog friendly garden. With numbers in decline, it’s important to help our spiky friends where we can. #hedgehog #sttiggywinkleswildlifehospital #hedgehogs_of_instagram #wildlifegarden
Another 5 star review from our client. Lovely praise for our landscaping team. Thanks Ken! #happycustomer #5starreview #landscaping #landscapingbuckinghamshire #gardendesigner #gardendesignbuckinghamshire
Plant of the moment: Hydrangea. Hydrangeas are a great shrub for late summer and autumn interest. Some varieties are very popular and so are often seen in our planting designs, like Hydrangea ‘Annabelle’ with it’s giant white Pom Pom like flowers. We are also fans of Hydrangea paniculata ‘Limelight’ with it’s lime-green to white flowers and the climbing Hydrangea petiolaris. #hydrangea #hydrangeaseason #hydrangeaannabelle #plantingdesign #plantingdesigner #gardendesigner #gardendesignbuckinghamshire
Earlier in the year we revisited this completed garden in Chesham Bois. The bulbs and perennial plants were all beginning to make an appearance, setting off the hard landscaping beautifully. The green oak pergola we had purpose built for the garden was colouring nicely and the @urbancedar hot tub was looking very inviting! Garden room built by @soulfulhideaways . As a garden designer with 10+ years experience and having lectured on the subject, I am often asked for tips and core skills.
As any garden designer will tell you, being able to judge how many plants you can fit into your car is key.
In this case the answer (10 year old BMX X1) is, 16 at 5 litres, 42 at 2 litres, 1 size 5 football, 6 cricket balls, a squash racquet and a driver (no passengers).
All heading to Beaconsfield to finish off a large project.

Plant of the moment: Salvia ‘Hot Lips’. This red and white flowering perennial Salvia can flower from July to the first frosts. If there is no frost, the leaves will be evergreen throughout winter. It requires full sun and a well draining soil although it copes quite well in improved clay. It can grow to about 1mx1m so it can make a real impact in a border. #plantingdesign #salvia #plantingdesigner #gardendesignbuckinghamshire #gardendesignerbucks
